Since 1956, the American Institute of Architecture Students has been the voice of students to the educational system and the profession of architecture and design in North America–and beyond. The association helps to build interest and enrich the educational experience of students (of all ages) and others in architecture and design. The AIAS is an independent, 501c3 non-profit and student-run organization that is more than just a club. This grassroots association is a cooperative between thousands of students in North America (of all ages and academic degrees) committed to helping each other. It provides a sense of community and a forum to share differing views. The AIAS is also a professional organization that is the official voice of architecture students. To promote excellence in architecture education, training and practice. We celebrate our membership in several ways. Members of the AIAS have the opportunity to have their work published in Crit, Journal of the AIAS the only international journal devoted to the work and critical thoughts of architecture students. To foster an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines. We host an annual convention, FORUM, which provides students with the opportunity to learn about the issues facing architectural education and the profession, to meet students and professionals with common interests, and to interact with some of today’s leading architects and designers. To enrich communities in a spirit of collaboration. Through the Freedom by Design™ program, we are organizing our members to be good citizens in their communities. To organize students and combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture. We serve as the sole student voice in the decision making process of such organizations as The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), and National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

BigHouse, Inc. is a Christ-centered non-profit organization incorporated in February of 2009 designed to meet the needs of children in foster care. We are interested in providing opportunities and experiences of a "typical childhood" to children who so desperately need to be kids. Our goal will be to show foster children that not only do people in their community care about their well being - they are loved unconditionally by a Heavenly Father. We want to display this love in practical ways- by providing art and music lessons, dance classes, sports instruction, haircuts, money for school trips, school yearbooks, birthday parties, summer camps and even family vacations. BigHouse was created because there is a lack of opportunity for those in the community to reach out and help children in foster care.

(TM) from a place of healing I am acknowledging you as a spiritual being (mind, body, spirit), and as I stand upon the foundation of Theocentric-Holistic Metaphysics (TM), or THM, the perspectives advice, and commentary I provide are all immersed on the bridge of Religion and Metaphysics. If you believe or not, I want to guide you to heal emotionally and mentally through Faith + Spiritual Healing because God is more than what religion shows, faith is just the hope unseen being, and love will allow you to be found once again. As a final comment, CONFIDENCE + FAITH is not only for adults, but is a way to heal generations because as you learn new techniques, and find yourself again, you can teach, heal, and protect the children from cycles, inner child wounds, but more importantly, give them the same hope and future that you once longed for!

CONFIDENCE + FAITH is contradicting societal norms by writing Religious and Spiritual Self-Help Books for Lost Souls to heal, learn their identity, and realign with their essence. This literary culture is a new approach to healing emotions, mentality, spirituality, and faith, as it bridges Religion and Metaphysics, in THM (TM) (Theocentric-Holistic Metaphysics). Being a Lost Soul is no more than recognizing you are not the same since a negative event, life transition, or PTSD, and being ready to answer "What happened, & Who am I?". This Spiritual Coaching is a pivate exploration of your shadows, and does not require you to open up to anyone, but you because these books, Journeys, and Journals are my life's wisdom, and tools to allow you to connect, express, and be encouraged to Move Forward in Love! (TM) and find freedom living as just you!

The facility offers an art gallery, performance room, children’s gallery, conference room, and two art studios. The Arts Center provides artists, dancers, musicians, and actors the opportunity to offer programs and instructional classes to community members. The mission of the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center is twofold: to provide quality cultural arts programs for the citizens of Auburn and to appropriately manage the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center. We achieve this by: 1. Establishing and organizing quality programs that address the diverse cultural interests of Auburn citizens. 2. Managing a well-maintained facility. 3. Exceeding the expectations of citizens, advisory groups, local officials, and the media through a commitment to effective and efficient delivery of services and a positive approach to customer service. 4. Continuing to offer innovative and unique programs. The Art Gallery is coordinated by the Auburn Arts Association. The Arts Association was founded as a non-profit, community-based arts organization in 1982. Its primary objectives are to promote arts education, encourage and support local artists and arts initiatives, and to foster community interest and participation in the arts. Together, the Arts Center and the Arts Association work hand-in-hand to create quality art education programs for our youth, lectures and workshops for adults, professional opportunities for area artists and performers, gallery exhibitions, and special events that benefit and enhance our community’s cultural life. Our mission is predicated on the belief that all people , regardless of race, age, religion, disability, national origin, sex, or family status, are able to improve their quality of life if they take advantage of the opportunities they are given. It is the goal of the Resident Services staff to provide rewarding , life changing opportunities to the residents of the Opelika Housing Authority. We have a after-school tutorial program for children ages 5-17 years. The program is Monday -Thursday 4:30 to 6:30 pm. We have 2 certified teachers and 3 support staff. We are in need of volunteers to work in our after-school program who can assist some of the children with one on one tutoring who are having difficulty in their classes. We also need volunteers who can teach an entry level computer class to our residents during the week. If you have a specialty and would like to share that with our residents in a workshop etc., that would be great as well. If you would like to provide an fun activity and/or party for the after-school program that would also be great. We normally have a combined total of 40 children. Some days we may have less, they are divided into two classrooms. We would like to thank you for for helping us to make a difference!

AFTER SCHOOL OUTREACH- Please see our website and newsletter for other events Monday-Thursday: 2:30-5:30 We welcome students to come to Our House after school on Monday through Thursday for a healthy snack and help with their homework/tutoring. Monday & Wednesday, Kindergarten thru 2nd, 2:30-4:00 Tuesday & Thursday, 3rd and 5th, 2:30-4:00 Monday thru Thursday, Middle School (6th/7th) 3:30-5:30 This is NOT an after school program or babysitting, but rather an opportunity for children from the neighborhood to get help with homework and learn to be responsible for their assignments/studies. We intend to love, encourage and mentor “Our Kids” and help them gain confidence in their abilities to excel at school. Our House is equipped with a study hall that has six computers and internet, as well as a library filled with books for all levels of reading (Thank you, Pine Hills Literacy, Hudson Family Foundation and many others for the hundreds of new books that you donated to our ministry).. We have been blessed with many devoted college students and adults who make themselves available each day to help the children with their homework and to encourage good study habits. We also have a supply closet full of basic school supplies (e.g. pens, pencils, notebook paper, markers, and glue), as well as items such as poster board, construction paper, and string, which may be needed for special projects. Flash cards and dry erase boards are also available to help students with math or sight words for our younger friends. We are working closely with the teachers from the elementary and middle schools to stay abreast of the students’ assignments, test schedules and activities that arise during the year. A calendar in our kitchen keeps us up to date on what is going on in the schools, at Our House and in the community. We pray that our volunteers will develop strong relationships with those who come to Our House during the school year and that our active involvement in their studies will help them perform to the best of their abilities in school – and perhaps to even foster a love for learning. Contact us to volunteer at ourhouseauburn@gmail.com. Purpose: "We strive to show the love of Jesus to children and their families in our community, and to provide a Christ-centered, home environment in which they can grow spiritually, academically, and socially. As we spend time with neighbors, we pray that our loving, serving, and mentoring of men, women, and children will be a partnership with God to draw them into a personal relationship with His Son"

Reach Out and Read prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together. Our program builds on the unique relationship between parents and medical providers to develop early reading skills in children. Doctors, nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals incorporate Reach Out and Read’s evidence-based model into regular well-child checkups by advising parents about the importance of reading aloud and giving developmentally-appropriate books to children to take home and keep. The program begins at the 6-month checkup and continues through age 5, with a special emphasis on children growing up in low-income families, where children are most at risk for reading failure. Every child in the program enters kindergarten with a home library of at least 10 books and parents who understand the importance of reading aloud.

Restoration 154
Restoration 154, Inc is a nonprofit started in Elba, Alabama by individuals holding the belief that together much can be accomplished. Its name was inspired by the 154 mile long Pea River, which passes through downtown Elba and serves as a constant reminder that what starts as a trickle can become a powerful force. Restoration 154 has a vision of bringing people together through projects that will have a significant and positive impact on the community. The lofty goal of identifying and developing 154 of these projects, one for each mile of the Pea river, was set with the idea that helping one's community should be a lifelong endeavor.

We feel that no child should be deprived of an education or basic nutrition--and therefore a future--simply based on their geography. Therefore we train everyday people on how to exercise their political power for social change targeting the root causes of poverty. Students who wish to volunteer with us will in essence, become the voice for the voiceless, and will learn how to speak to members of Congress, the media, and their communities to discuss solutions to global hunger & poverty: access to education, maternal & child health, vaccines and proper nutrition as crucial components to child survival, addressing the AIDS epidemic, and creating standards of excellence for microfinance.

When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today’s youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential. We provide one-to-one mentoring for children in the community. We match children with a volunteer also known as a Big Brother or a Big Sister based on the gender of the child. We ask that our Big Brothers and Big Sisters, or “Bigs” spend at least 8 hours a month with his/her Little. We encourage the Bigs to incorporate the Little’s hobbies, as well as their own into fun, inexpensive activities to do with their mentees.

The Lovelady Center is a faith-based, 501©3 non-profit organization that currently house 375 women and approx. 110 children. However, it is much more than just a facility; it is a home, a school, a sanctuary, a medical clinic and a refuge. Each day at The Lovelady Center (TLC), women and their children’s lives are transformed as they break free of the bonds of substance abuse, criminal thinking, and cycles of domestic violence, homelessness and poverty. Rather than simply being a shelter, The Lovelady Center offers a 9-12 month program which transforms wounded lives and allows women to follow the path intended by God. Whether her past is stained by abuse, abandonment, or just homelessness, TLC serves as another chance for many women or in some cases, the first chance. You see, TLC’s program is based upon empowerment, hope, and a belief in the value of each human life. It is our mission to help women overcome their adversity so that they can go forward driven by faith, wisdom and solid determination. As a faith-based facility we rely on the faithful support of individuals, churches and business leaders, like you, to continue with our mission and quest to improve the lives of women and children.
